A FEW more games got off the ground last weekend in the St Helens Combination. But the Liverpool County FA Cup games suffered badly, with just a single game on each day being played.

On Saturday, saw St Helens Star Premier Division side Gerard Arms claimed a 9-8 penalty shoot out win, following a 4-4 extra time deadlock, with Walker Park FC. Paul Oakes (2) and Grattan Hill (2) were the scorers.

In the Sunday Intermediate Cup-tied, Penlake outgunned fellow Sunday Division outfit York FC, 3-0 with goals from Paul Iman (2) and John Abbott.

On Saturday, Billinge consolidated their top of the premiership with a 5-0 spanking of Eccleston United, who although they had a good first half, could not stay the pace and were soundly beaten in the second half. Billinge scorers were Mich Pilkington (3), Gary Derbyshire and Andy Rowe.

Eddie Furlong (2) and Jack Woodcroft found the net for College St Helens in a comfortable 3-1 win at Nutgrove.

In Division One, Broad Oak (Paul Hopwood, Dean Abbott, Chris Campbell (2)) battled out a 4-4 draw at home to Earlestown. Hardshaw Argyle were easily the masters in a 10-0 beating of Cowley Hill Park, but Gerard Arms Reserves went down 0-3 at home to an improving Rifle outfit.

On Sunday, two divisional games took place beside the one LCFA cup game. These being a 8-4 home win for Bold Miners over the Deaf Sports and Social Club and a 2-4 away success for Sutton Heath Panthers against Ex-Services United. RESULTS
