A THUG clambered through an open window before robbing a Prestwich pensioner of £1,500 worth of jewellery.

Seconds earlier, he had engaged the 77-year-old woman in conversation as he stood outside.

But after climbing through the window and into her sheltered flat at Clark's Hill, Prestwich, the thug pushed the pensioner to the ground before stealing the jewellery and handbag.

Police say he was a white man, 6ft tall with short dark hair and wearing a blue jacket.

Anyone with information about the robbery, which happened at 3.40pm on Wednesday (Oct 18), is asked to ring Bury operational police unit.
