ST TRINIAN'S schoolgirls rampaged around Bury on Friday night (Oct 13) to raise money for a disabled boy.

The naughty schoolgirls, pictured outside the New Inn, were made up of 13 women and two men who went on a pub crawl, collecting money from amused onlookers.

"It was brilliant," said Linda Bentley, who is helping with fund-raising. "We started off at the New Inn on Bell Lane and went to all the pubs on the lane. We then went up Rochdale Road before heading back to the New Inn.

"We got a brilliant reaction from people we passed. As we were walking down the streets cars were pipping their horns."

More than £250 was raised from the pub crawl towards the Matthew Gaughran fund. Matthew is a 20-month-old boy who has cerebral palsy and needs a special "bike" to help him walk. They are also raising funds for the child development centre at Fairfield Hospital, Bury, which specialises in helping disabled children under 16.

A presentation evening has been planned for this Friday (Oct 20) at 7.30 pm at the Salisbury club, Badger Street, Bury. The night will include auctions, raffles and there will be the opportunity to win a signed football from Bury Football Club. Tickets are priced at £2 and those interested can contact Linda on 0161 797 3429.
