I AGREE with Mr Hill. His questions regarding the Civic Illuminations are perfectly reasonable and deserve an answer from the council.
The information I received, as a member of the Economic Development Committee, was that there was a revised schedule which had been drawn up and agreed by both parties, but there was no documented evidence of the same.
In essence the document had been lost.
As the council had accepted the principle of liability, a financial settlement was the only solution.
Rather like the infamous side letter in the Blobby Affair, the whole thing was a farce.
Has any officer been disciplined for losing the document?
To my knowledge, no.
I hope this response is helpful, Mr Hill.
From your un-puffed, reasonable, effective, unimportant, unwhipped, local, small-fry councillor!
