A SKERTON schoolboy is to travel to Jordan to do charity work.

Michael Armitage, former head boy at Skerton High, is planning to take a year out to take part in 'Project Trust.'

After taking part in a briefing and activities in the Isle of Coll, which Michael described as "a wonderful week with beautiful weather" he has received confirmation that he could spend a year in the Middle East.

In April he will be assigned his project in the area, which could be teaching English in a primary school or work in a hospital, sports centre or the community in general. But he needs to raise £3,350.

Mike's mum, Jackie Armitage, who is registered disabled because of chronic back pain, is hoping to swim 50 lengths of Salt Ayre swimming pool, for which she has been pledged £2,050.

But the family are still looking for £1,300. To make an offer of support call Mike or a member of his family on 383410.
