CHIEF Executive John Williams today quashed speculation linking Matt Jansen with a move to First Division leaders Fulham.

A report in one of the morning tabloids claimed Fulham chief Jean Tigana is lining up a £5 million bid for the England Under 21 international.

However, Williams has been quick to reveal Rovers have not had any contact with the Cottagers over any proposed deal.

And he repeated the club's stance when Jansen was linked with a similar switch to Newcastle United over the summer.

"We know nothing about this and we've certainly not heard anything off Fulham," said Williams.

"It just sounds like paper talk but the last time Matt Jansen was linked with a transfer Graeme Souness made it clear he wasn't for sale."

Meanwhile, Jansen is facing a race against time to be fit for Rovers' home clash against Grimsby Town tomorrow.

The 22-year-old forward aggravated an ankle injury during the Fulham game.

Rovers are likely to choose from: Filan, Curtis, Bjornebye, Kenna, Short, Berg, Taylor, Carsley, Flitcroft, Dunn, Johnson, McAteer, Hignett, Ostenstad, Gillespie, Jansen, Broomes, Kelly.

Meanwhile, Grimsby boss Lennie Lawrence has a dilemma over who to play upfront.

Steve Livingstone and Bradley Allen are Town's current top scorers with four goals apiece this term.

But loan-signing David Nielsen made a big impact on his full debut against QPR in midweek and could get the nod again.

Grimsby will choose from: Coyne, McDermott, Butterfield, Handyside, Gallimore, Groves, Donovan, Coldicott, Campbell, Smith, Pouton, Allen, Livingstone, Nielsen, Croudson, Burnett, Clare.

Rovers keeper Alan Miller has joined Coventry on a one-month loan.
