TEN jobs are to be lost at Darwen's Akzo Nobel after Christmas.

The redundancies will all be in the customer accounts and pricing departments at the Crown House site.

A spokesman for the firm said: "As a result of ongoing improvements in electronic information processing and changing customer requirements, it has become necessary to restructure the appropriate departments.

"Regrettably this review is likely to lead to a reduction of 10 jobs within this area of the business.

"We hope to achieve this reduction by transferring staff to different positions within the company or other voluntary means."

The company confirmed that the restructuring would take place in the new year and that there would be no other job losses.
