YOUNGSTERS organised a tasty treat at their school to raise money for Food Aid.
The school council -- a 10-strong committee made up of two children from each class -- came up with the idea for the Breakfast Club and on Wednesday pupils at St James CE Primary, in Darwen, tucked into cereal and bread.
Children paid 30p for the privilege and with the food stuffs donated for nothing by Asda Blackburn the school made full profit realising £25 for the charity.
"The children really enjoyed it and the breakfast set them up for the day ahead," said headteacher Mrs Sue Garnett. "The good thing was it was all the council's idea. The children set it up and then organised it." Carole Davies from Asda Blackburn said the store was pleased to be involved.
"We donated all the cereal and milk and bread and I went along to help out," said Mrs Davies. "The children seemed to love it and we were pleased to help out."
