LOAN signing Erik Meijer was certainly well prepared for his Preston debut -- he arrived at Deepdale four hours before kick off!

The Liverpool striker made his first start for North End in the 1-0 win over Norwich -- their fourth straight league win --on Tueday night but admitted: "I didn't know where the Preston stadium was and so the club had to send me a map to help me get there.

"In fact, I had no problems finding the place at all. I left my house in Liverpool at three o'clock -- and 45 minutes later I was at the ground!"

The Dutch international has been settling in with his new team-mates and is looking forward to leading the line again in tomorrow's trip to struggling Huddersfield.

"In the Norwich game, I kept having to look at the players shirts to remember their names or shout "hey."

"But now I am settling in and I am very proud to play for Preston. There were other clubs in the First Division interested but I wanted to come to Preston because of the way they play football," said the 31-year-old.

"They have got a decent defence, are lively in midfield and are doing well in the league. I think they have a future.

"I am here for seven games and I want to get 21 points from those and it's been a good start with three.

"I love playing football and it was frustrating at Liverpool with three international strikers ahead of me. It was a struggle to even get on the bench and sometimes the manager had to disappoint 19 players." Manager David Moyes has said Preston could afford to bring Meijer to Preston in a permanent deal if it all works out and the Dutchman is open minded.

"I will have to see how it goes. I have only been here three days but it's very nice to get compliments after such a short time!"

Meijer could be lining up with seven goal striker Jon Macken tomorrow who has recovered from the sickness which kept him out of the midweek game and was yesterday testing his hamstring which had also sidelines him.

"He trained yesterday so we'll see how it goes," said manager Moyes.

Mark Rankine could also be back and Michael Jackson looks to have shook off a calf strain.

Moyes, though, was remaining tight-lipped about stories linking Preston with a bid for Stockport striker Ian Moore although he did admit to making an enquiry about Rangers forward Gordon Durie, which has come to nothing.

Moyes is wary of meeting a Huddersfield side who haven't won at home this season and are now under caretaker boss Lou Macari, following the departure of Steve Bruce.

"This is when teams are at their most dangerous but there is a lot of confidence at the club and we go into every game thinking we can win."
