MAY I reply to the outpourings of A. P. Tobias (Postbag, October 13).

Firstly, I condemn all terrorists, they are cowards. But maybe A. P. Tobias has conveniently forgotten that in 1946-48 gangs of Jewish terrorists were shooting, hanging and blowing-up British soldiers, policemen and civilians, the same soldiers who shortly before had been fighting to free Jews held in concentration camps! The leaders of these gangs later became revered statesmen of the new Israel.

I would also point out that much of the money for these terrorist gangs was raised by Jewish groups in Britain and America and their organisers were also highly honoured and rewarded by the new state of Israel.

There's an old saying, "As ye sow, so shall ye reap" and A. P. Tobias cannot blame the Palestinians for being more than a little upset.
