PARENTS of children who attend Fishpool County Infants and St Chad's in Bury are concerned about the number of cars and taxis using Sultan Street. This cul-de-sac is the location for children being dropped off and picked up from the two schools.

This has been a problem for many years. Cars and taxis stop right outside the gates instead of using nearby streets, like Nelson Street where many parents already park their car and walk the short distance. Vehicles using the cul-de-sac on Sultan Street are creating a very dangerous situation for the children.

Parents have protested for years and we have even gone as far as blocking the top of the street. We know that this street is access to the flats on Sultan Street, but the residents there are very mindful of the safety of children attending the schools and we would like to thank them for their consideration.

Parents would like to know when the council are going to take action and sort out the problem of Sultan Street. One child has already been knocked down so how many more need to be injured, or even killed, before something is done?
