LONG with P. Kaiserman (Yours Truly, Oct 5) I would like to congratulate those responsible for the excellent coverage of our recent crossing protest in the Radcliffe Times of Sept 28.

It made a welcome change after years of being ignored by successive governments and the media. During that time we have held five "Pensioners Parliaments" in Blackpool, where each year more than 2,100 delegates have joined in three days of debate in the Winter Gardens. This followed a march, with massive support, from the North Promenade. Neither event seemingly rated a single mention on TV or in the popular newspapers!

Mrs Jean Jones, whose photograph was published in the RT, was quoted as saying that she and her husband were thinking of starting a campaign over pensions. There is no need to do that, Mrs Jones, you will be very welcome to attend our Bury Pensioners' Association meetings on the second Wednesday of every month, in Bury Town Hall, Committee Room 3 at 2pm. Besides discussing all issues affecting pensioners we have different speakers every month.

We are a non-party organisation just committed to defending the interests of present and future pensioners. Anyone interested in our organisation can ring me on 798-9744, or Mr Fletcher, our secretary, on 01706-368160.
