A DOMESTIC violence seminar organised by the Lancashire Wide Network for minority ethnic women is to be held at Burnley Football Club.
Delegates from across the county are expected at the event next Tuesday.
It will open with a personal account of domestic violence from a "survivor" followed by a performance of "The Knott", a play specially written about the whole issue of domestic violence and performed by the Certain Curtain Theatre.
Speakers will include Kath Reade of the North West Development Agency and former Burnley Council leader, and representatives from the police, a women's organisation and women who have endured domestic violence.
In the afternoon the delegates will divide into workshops led by representatives from the health service, social services, Lancashire Constabulary and a local women's refuge.
Amina Jeewa, capacity building project co-ordinator with the Network said the aim of the seminar was to raise awareness of the issue and especially amongst minority ethnic women to highlight support services that were available with a view to developing an inter-agency approach to tackling the problem.
