EAST Lancashire born Bob Black has been appointed by express delivery firm TNT as the new divisional managing director of its specialist services business.

Mr Black (pictured), who attended St Augustine's High School, Billington, will be responsible for a £100 million annual turnover and more than 1,000 staff.

The division covers TNT Mail Services and TNT Sameday operations.

After gaining 11 O-levels and four A-levels at St Augustine's, Bob joined TNT in 1983 as a loading bay operative. He quickly progressed through depot management positions and was appointed divisional general manager of TNT Mail Services in 1996. He was promoted to divisional director in February, 1999.

"My goals over the next 12 months are to ensure both TNT Mail Services and TNT Sameday exceed their budget expectations and that new products and services are continually developed," said Mr Black.
