TEACHERS from 40 schools in East Lancashire have received an invitation to attend a free NIE Newsday session at the head office of our newspaper, with funding towards the cost of supply cover for schools available from the Teacher Placement Service.

All 40 schools are currently using our brand new NIE resources for the autumn term, including our Literacy Resource for KS1 and KS2 and the English/Media Resource for KS3 and KS4.

As a bonus, teachers will be given the opportunity to visit the advertising, marketing and editorial departments of the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, receiving tips from the top from members of staff on November 24, 16 or 21.

Also on offer, free of charge, are a range of in-school activities run by NIE Co-ordinator Rita Shaw, only to schools participating in our Newspapers in Education project.

A limited number of copies of the current resources are still available to schools within our circulation area, plus our other on-going newspaper related projects, designed by local teachers to support literacy and numeracy and suitable for a wide age range.

For further details of any of these, please contact Rita Shaw on 01254 678678, ext 255, fax no 01254 680429 or email nie@lancashire.newsquest.co.uk
