BROOK sparkled under the floodlights producing an outstanding performance in the National Youth League.

With Mike Ledger and Mark Gibson laying on a string of telling passes, there was no shortage of willing runners with players' player Danny Atherton, John Hale, Dave Goldthorpe, Mark Leonard and Junction Fencing man-of-the-match Scott Lyon all making big inroads into the Cumbrian defence, while David Llewellyn was a tireless worker.

Atherton scored two long-range efforts and laid on another for Kevin Picton. Craig Lyon scored after good hands across the line, Darren Woods scored from a cross field bomb. Alan Broderick from close range, while Dave Llewellyn scored the try of the night starting and finishing a dazzling long-range effort involving Leonard and Picton.

Blackbrook Royals u/15s 16 Leigh Miners Rangers 12

ROYALS emerged worthy winners after a terrific game to which both sides contributed some top class rugby.

Two Kelvin Walkden tries gave Royals a 10-0 half time lead but Rangers fought back despite a Matty Foley effort and Royals were forced to defend in the last 10 minutes during which man-of-the-match full-back Danny Burns caught several high kicks.

James Milligan, Craig Littler and Neil Rigby also took the eye.

Royals u/14s 9 Wigan St Pats 6

ROYALS recovered from a six-nil half time deficit with a gutsy performance, completely dominating the second half to clinch victory with a try by Phil Coakley and another two goals and a well-taken drop by the Mike Barker player's player, Philip Platt against previously unbeaten St Pats.

The Rimmer Industrial Services man of the match was Danny Leigh.

Newcomers New Springs could not contain a rampant Royals side in which S D Consulting man-of-the-match Mark Bostock and Mike Wilkinson were outstanding.

Royals u/11s 28 Leigh East Tigers 22

Royals were made to fight all the way by an excellent Tigers side before taking the spoils with tries from Andrew Donovan, Gary Wheeler (2), Shaun Magennis and Chris Williams. Ian Marren was in top form claiming the Co-op man of the match with Jamie Foster leading the defensive effort.

Widnes Moorfield u/10s 20 Royals 36

Recovering from the shock of conceding two early tries, Royals finally powered to a good win, maintaining their excellent start to the season.

Royals u/9s 36 Parkside Golborne 10

A good game played in excellent spirit by both teams, saw Royals come through with tries by Liam Holland, Alex Holland, Nathan Goodwin, Josh Owen, Chris Ford, Ryan Gumley and man-of-the-match Dane Hodgkinson.

Dean Craven was top tackler with Ryan Gumley also in good form.
