A NEW Cancer Resource Store has been given a massive boost -- courtesy of Couristan Carpets.

For the Eccleston Street company have donated more than £10,000 worth of carpets to the Liverpool-based store which will act as a regional headquarters.

Chief executive of the Cancer Resource Store, Maureen Newton, said: "When Mikaela, our communications and resource manager, wrote to manufacturers requesting support, I never dreamed that we would get such fantastic help. Couristan have been absolutely magnificent in their generosity, and without them we would have certainly been waiting a lot longer for our carpets."

Aim of the centre at 64 Mount Pleasant is to inform and support individuals who are affected, either directly or indirectly, by cancer and other serious illnesses by providing guidance, information and support.

Paul Brookes, operations manager at Couristan, said: "When I was first approached by the Cancer Resource Store I felt compelled to help. What this charity is doing is mind-blowing. Couristan felt honoured to have been approached by such an organisation.

"We are one of the very few manufacturers anywhere in the world with the ability, experience, financial standing and resources necessary to address projects of the greatest prestige, complexity and size. We have carpeted some of the world's most famous establishments, including Buckingham Palace, The Kremlin, the Waldorf Astoria Hotel and Caesar's Palace as well as the homes of the Sultan of Brunei, Barbra Streisand and Clint Eastwood."
