HEALTH information is just a mouse click away for St Helens residents with the launch of a health partnership web site -- www.sthhaz.org.uk -- designed by St Helens Council's IT department.

The site introduces the work of the health partnership and gives an overview of the St Helens health plan and the health improvement programme, both of which can be downloaded.

There is background information on the Merseyside health action zone, including its aims, plus a Who's Who of the St Helens health partnership and details of approved projects.

Avis Mulhearn, health partnership co-ordinator, said: "The site will develop as it goes along, being visually exciting, informative and fun so that it appeals to all ages. We plan to add cartoons and games to interest younger visitors to the site and there are links to a host of other health-related web sites.

"There is a great deal going on in St Helens to improve the quality of life and the web site is just one of the tools we want to use to put the message across."

And Marie Armitage, Merseyside health action zone co-ordinator, added: "The health partnership, with the help of Merseyside health action zone funding, has launched a number of schemes in St Helens which really are making a difference to people's lives. The web site gives people a chance to find out more and become actively involved in that process of change for the better."

St Helens Council leader, Marie Rimmer commented: "I am delighted that the council was involved in the development of the web site and fully supported the work of the health partnership. This project was clearly in line with the Government's modernisation agenda through the provision of electronic services."
