A RECYCLING company have been rewarded by the environmental charity, Groundwork St Helens, for their commitment to health and safety within the workplace.
Earlestown-based AKM, a division of Safic Alcan UK Limited, were given an 'environmental healthcheck' by Groundwork a year ago which involved looking into their health and safety record and ways in which the running of the factory could be improved upon. The firm were then given 12 months to implement these changes and following a second inspection, were awarded Groundwork's Accredited Member Certificate, supported by the Newton 21 Partnership and the European Regional Development Fund.
