PUPILS at Sutton Oak CE Primary School experienced some 'Hard Times' when they went back through time to learn what school was like during the reign of Queen Victoria.
Year Three and Four children swapped their school uniforms and computers for Victorian dress and chalk slates and took part in hand inspections, early morning drill and singing for the Queen, instead of normal lessons. They also tried their hands at hoops, marbles, tops and conkers during break times.
The day was part of a history project on Victorian life and actors from Prescot Museum also went along to host a number of role plays.
History co-ordinator, Karen Davison said: "We wanted the children to experience what life was really like for our great grandparents. They loved every minute of the day and learned a great deal."
