ROVERS midfielder Lee Carsley has been linked with a move to Everton.

Walter Smith is currently desperate for midfield cover and, according to reports, he is set to revive his interest in Carsley.

However, Rovers have not been contacted by anyone from Goodison.

But Smith did ask Souness about the Irish midfielder in the summer before switching his attentions to Alex Nyarko.

And, with Carsley currently having to settle for a substitute's role at present, it is possible Smith could make another move.

Derby County's interest in Christian Dailly may now have fizzled out, however.

Rams boss Jim Smith is lining up a loan deal for AC Milan defender Taribo West.

The 26-year-old Nigerian international watched County beat Norwich 3-0 in the Worthington Cup last night.

And Smith is hoping to tempt him to join his side's relegation fight until the end of the season.

"When agents are involved you think you've got there but suddenly they change ends," said Smith.

"All I'm saying is that he's here for us to continue talks.

"He's not playing at the moment and he wants to come and play football."
