St Wilfrid's versus Darwen Moorland Year Seven and Eight

DARWEN Moorland and St Wilfrid's shared the spoils as their undefeated teams kept up the winning streak.

The Saints Year Eight side kept up their 100 per cent record with a 11-5 win while Moorland's Year Seven team made it two wins out of two with a convincing 17-4 win.

However with the league programme only just begun there is still plenty of time for both schools' losing teams to find their winning form. The Year Eight clash was the closest of the two matches with the Saints just having enough fire power in front of the net to seal the win.

Goal shooter Erin Higgins and goal attack Rachel Riding did most the damage sharing the majority of the scoring between them.

However reserve attacker, Anna Lee did her part and came on to make a scoring contribution. St Wilfrid's team also included Rachel McDermott, Amy Holden, Rachel Huddleston, Eve Taylor, and Lucy Everett.

For Moorland, wing attack Louise Yates had another instrumental match and her tireless display made sure the Darwen school were always in with a shot. The attacking duo of Charlotte Stockley and Rebecca Hargreaves also had good matches and can feel pleased with the efforts.

Jodie Gregson, Sain Rawling, Rachel Bowker and Kirtsy Duckworth completed the Moorland line-up.

While it was the Year Eight teams second defeat of the season, Moorland's Year Seven side continued their unbeaten run with a fine all-round performance in their 17-4 victory.

Centre Amy Bolton put in a player of the match display whose intelligent link play between defence and attack made sure her side kept a fluid formation.

That meant that goal scorer Kirsty McDermott and goal attack Jade Halliwell were supplied with plenty of ball -- and they did not let their team-mates down with some clinical shooting.

Moorland's Year Seven team also included Georgina Pearson, Amy Bolton, Stephanie Hickey, Emma Halliwell and Leanne Conn.

St Wilfrid's worked hard against a very good Moorland team but were second best on the day.

The only reward for their efforts was the four points shared between Katie Hodgkinson and Stephanie Holden.

The team also included Adele Fawcett, Naomi Emmett, Sarah Shakespeare, Aimee Greenwood, Karina Barnes and reserve Emma Pearson.
