REGARDING your report (LET, November 8) concerning a taxi driver being attacked by some teenage youths.

It was completely out of order for the leader of Blackburn Council, Malcolm Doherty to say the Mill Hill district is becoming a no-go area, after commenting also about stones being thrown at bus drivers.

As a representative of the Mill Hill district ward, in which he has lived for 25 years, Coun Doherty ought to do more for the area, rather than running it down.

There are a lot of genuine, fine people in Mill Hill. I have lived in the area for 50 years and it is much better than other districts in the town.

Coun Doherty ought to praise it and give it a good name.

Blackburn with Darwen Council has a need to find somewhere for our young teenagers to go -- like a youth club and recreation centre, to keep them off the streets.

Mill Hill is one of the best areas in Blackburn, always clean and tidy, with a very fine little shopping centre.

I feel sure that all residents are proud to live there -- it is only being spoiled by a very few people.
