BLACKBURN pilot Mitch Preston was on 'red alert' at an air base in the Saudi desert as the world teetered on the brink of war in the Gulf. The 27-year-old, whose family were living in Wilpshire, was expected to be in the first wave of ground attack aircraft entering enemy territory.
