CRAIG Hignett today vowed to win over the Ewood boo-boys by proving he's worth a regular place in Graeme Souness's starting line-up.

The former Barnsley man was singled out for abuse by some sections of the crowd during Saturday's 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

But the 31-year-old insists Blackburn fans have yet to see the best of him since his £2.25 million move in the summer.

And he is desperate to show he can still play a vital part in Rovers' promotion push as the action hots up over the second half of the season.

"Blackburn fans have yet to see the best of me but I'm determined to make it work," said Hignett.

"I didn't play particularly well against Wednesday and the fans have every right to voice their opinions.

"But I'm old enough to take that on the chin and I won't let it affect my game.

"I just need a run of games because I don't feel I'm doing myself justice.

"I'm struggling to find a bit of form and the season has yet to kick-off for me in many ways.

"But I know I'll come good at some stage, I've just got to be patient.

"I didn't realise how much I'd miss not doing a pre-season and this could be the first time in my career that I don't finish in double figures for the season.

"But there's still nearly half of the season left and I'm confident I can start getting on the scoresheet.

"I've had my chance over the last three games. Now it's up to me to take it."

Hignett had to be substituted against Wednesday at the weekend after injurying his back in a second half challenge.

But he is hopeful of being back in contention for Sunday's televised showdown with Birmingham at St Andrew's, as Rovers look to stretch their unbeaten League run to 10 games.

"It was very sore for the first few days but it seems to have settled down now and I should have a chance," said Hignett.

"It's a big game, but then they all when you get to this stage of the season.

"We've got ourselves into a great position and it would be stupid to throw it away now.

"We've been a bit Jekyll and Hyde recently. In the first half against Preston we were magnificent but in the second half we stopped playing.

"And that's something we've got to learn from because, when you're two or three-nil up, it's important not to give the other team a sniff.

"But we spoke about it last week and we seemed to put that right on Saturday.

"And I feel like we're improving with every game."

Everton have inquired about Chrsitian Dailly, although no offer was made.

West Ham and Leicester have both had offers of around £1.75million accepted and the player is currently assessing his options.

Rovers reserve team game against Leeds United at Morecambe tomorrow has been postponed because of a frozen pitch.

The coach will depart from the Aqueduct car park at 5.15pm, it's free to members and non-members, and there is no need to book in advance.
