ROB Kelly today warned Rovers' young guns that they must match Colchester for hunger and desire or they could face a Cup upset at Layer Road tonight.

Rovers' face a tricky FA Youth Cup fourth round replay in the south after a two-goal blast from quicksilver striker Lloyd Opara earned United a second bite of the cherry at Ewood last week.

Yet, despite squandering a 2-0 lead on home territory, Kelly is confident his troops can finish the job off at the second attempt.

But he insists his side must go into the contest with the right attitude if they want to prolong their interest in the competition.

"We've got to be careful that our players don't become too comfortable," said Kelly.

"We are lucky in terms of what the club has invested but we've got to make sure that that always works for us.

"It works in attracting players but we've got to make sure that we demand even more because they are lucky to be here.

"This is a magnificent environment so our lads have got to work even harder to stay here and progress.

"A kid at Colchester will be looking at the likes of us and thinking I want a bit of that so they'll ready to battle and scrap.

"Hopefully, our young players don't think they've already arrived so it's upto us to make sure they appreciate what they've got."

Rovers looked on course for a goal-blitz in the original tie after racing into a 2-0 lead inside the opening 22 minutes, thanks to goals from prolific strike duo Mark Byrne and Jon Walters.

But dangerman Opara then took centre stage to set up a replay which now looks delicately poised.

"It's going to be a tough game for us down there but it will be a tough game for them as well," said Kelly.

"We feel we didn't really do ourselves justice in the way we played at Ewood, particularly after that first half hour.

"So we want to go there and put on a bit of a show but we know it won't be easy.

"Clubs like Colchester will only survive if they can bring through their own, like the likes of Peterborough and Northampton.

"And they do invest in their youth programme, not to the extent of an Academy maybe, but they cut their cloth accordingly.

"They run their own centre of excellence and have done so for a number of years.

"So they've got one or two decent players who we are aware of and, hopefully, we'll deal with that on the night."

Rovers go into the clash boosted by the Under 17s' brilliant 4-2 victory over Derby at the weekend -- a result which saw them replace the Rams at the top of the table.

And England Under 16 internationals Ciaran Donnelly and Jerome Watt are again both included in the squad, having now recharged their batteries following their exploits in the Joao Havelange tournament in Brazil.

"Brazil was a great experience for them," said Kelly.

"There were some players there who really are at the top of the tree in their age group.

"Both myself and Bobby Downes have spoken to the players since they came back and they realise they've still got a lot of work to do.

"But that's very refreshing because they didn't go out there and think 'Wow! We are playing for England' and that's it.

"That's why we wanted them to go because we wanted them to see the very top and use it as a positive.

"It's given them another marker and another goal to aim for.

"They know there's still things they need to work at to try and improve.

"But in the long term it will be of great benefit to them."

Rovers are likely to choose from: Robinson, Renton, Hockenhall, Taylor, Stone, Woodhead, Martin, Morgan, Cole, Watt, Donnelly, Nelson, Danns, Walters, Byrne, Blakeman.
