Lancaster City 2 Leigh RMI 2 (aet) LEIGH RMI had a Ged Murphy strike in the 110th minute to thank for earning a replay in their Marsden Cup Quarter Final with UniBond League Lancaster City.

The tie had been forced to extra-time as a resurgent Dolly Blue's capitalised on some lacklustre defending to claw their way back into a tie that seemed over inside 90 seconds. Ian Monk had raced past Kilbane to the by-line and Tony Black was on hand to nod the opener past Mark Thornley.

Slowly, but urely, the UniBond side had opportunities to level. Chris Ward, tipped for a place in a league outfit in double quick time, was disappointed to see his efforts saved twice by the grounded Felgate, and then by a recovering Ian Swan on the goal-line, while captain Kenny Mayers should have done better with a close range header. Ward had two further chances to impress, but he spurned the first after a super cross by ex-Railwayman Brian Butler, and embarrassingly fluffed his lines at the second attempt following a carbon copy from Potts.

Lancaster squared the game with just 15 minutes to go when Brian Welch drilled past Felgate into the bottom corner, and the home supporters were further roused when they took the lead in the first period of extra-time. Dean Martin ghosted in at the near post to crash a header into the roof of the net to convert Jimmy Graham's pinpoint centre.

At the change of ends though, Leigh managed to force a replay with substitute Murphy's first goal for the club after Jones's shot was charged down by Farrell Kilbane.
