AFTER the previous week's wasted journey, Burnley fans arrived at Scunthorpe in good spirit after the so-called "turning the corner."

But their team's display was the worse since the last 20 minutes where they bowed out to a very poor Third Division team in Darlington.

This time it was another poor Third Division team -- Scunthorpe.

After ragging a last-minute equaliser, which we did not deserve, we contrived to play the worst football I have seen in two years and I follow Burnley home and away every week.

You could have pulled 10 outfield lads from any team in the Accrington Combination who would have given more fight and spirit. Only one player comes out with any credit and that's Nick the Greek who kept us in it and pulled off a string of outstanding saves.

Ultimately, the buck stops at the chairman, but the blame must stop at Stan Ternent. It is he who picks the team and dictates tactics, but some of them beggar belief.

Strike One: Ten minutes to go in the last period of extra time and Andy Payton, top scorer and number one penalty taker is taken off.

Strike Two: Nick makes a great save and Steve Davis takes the first penalty and their keeper makes a good save.

Strike Three: Penalty number six -- Kevin Ball, who has never scored since joining the club, blasts the ball over the bar.

Three strikes and you're out, and deservedly. Well played, Scunny -- you deserved to go through. Me? Well, I didn't fancy getting a result there anyway.

So, Stan, why all the ranting and raving? We were well beaten regardless of the penalty shoot-out. Sort it out, Stan and stop having a go at all the fans. It was a shambles at Scunthorpe -- admit it and sort it out.
