VOLUNTEERS are being sought in Bury to allow the elderly housebound to leave their homes for outings.
Earlier, 15 pensioners travelled to the Chestnut Court Nursing and Residential Home in Bury as part of the national "Contact the Elderly" project operating in Bolton.
The visitors and their volunteer drivers enjoyed a game of bingo and a buffet at Chestnut Court.
Now, Bolton group leader Mrs Joan Anderson would like to launch a branch of "Contact the Elderly" in Bury to provide outdoor events for the housebound.
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer can ring Mrs Anderson on 01204 63095 or Mark Howsham at Chestnut Court on 761 7526.
