BURY FC commercial manager Peter Young was delighted to receive a call from Mike Sweeney and the Thunderbirds offering to perform a gig free of charge for the 'Save Our Shakers' appeal. Mike is a keen footballer who turned out a couple of times for the Shakers' reserves. Phil Watts, who plays in the band and is Mike's agent, is also a keen Bury supporter.

"MIke has a busy schedule with his radio show in London and also his slot on Century Radio, but we hope to announce a date and venue for the 'Mike Sweeney and the Thunderbirds Save Our Shakers Night' within the next few days," said Young.

"I must say a big thank you to Mike and the lads for supporting us in this way," added Young. "We already have Stu's Roadshow backing our appeal with their show at the Chicago Rock Cafe on Wednesday March 28.

"It's fantastic that two top acts with very busy schedules are prepared to find time to help out Bury Football Club.

"It shows once again that people do care deeply and it's very heartening for all involved at the club."
