THE funky rock sound of Padiham-based Reverb is set to delight cinema audiences in America later this year after some of their ballads were picked up by an aspiring film director.

Several of Reverb's songs are set to be used in the film by Ash Raf Meer after he found the music on a website dedicated to unsigned bands. The site, www.burbs.co.uk, features unsigned bands and allows people to pick their favourite songs which are then compiled into a chart. Several Reverb songs have made it into that chart, where they were spotted by the up-and-coming film director.

Reverb's Mark Smith said: "We received this e-mail from Ash saying he had heard our music and wanted to use some of it for his film.

"It is only a small budget film but I suppose it has as much chance as any of catching on."

The group will receive in the region of $3,500 per track used on the film, which has been completed but remains untitled.

Mark added: "Apparently, it is set around a group of Generation X people in New York who get together and have to tell their deep, dark secrets. That is all we know. It sounds unusual."

It is the group's ballad tracks like No Way Out and Ditto which Ash is interested in.

Contracts are currently being drawn up between the two parties.

Mark added: "It just illustrates what a useful tool the internet can be for up and coming bands.

"Without it, I think it is highly unlikely he would have heard our music." The group follow a mainstream indie sound but add in a funk beat.

They have just completed a successful gig at the Carleton Hotel in Burnley and are looking forward to a gig on Friday.

The four-piece play at the Punch Bowl in Earby then and are also planning a gig for Rishton Cricket Club.
