HEALTHY eating was on the menu at Rossall School this week (April 5).

Year six pupils from the school joined with youngsters from nearby Manor Beach primary school in Cleveleys, to learn how to prepare food.

The young chefs tasted exotic fruits, made fresh fruit salad, pizza and Rossall oat and raisin crunchies, as well as designing healthy eating posters.

Barbara King, head of home economics at Rossall School organised the four one-day workshops this week. The annual workshops have now been running for three years.

Mrs King said: "It is a very successful project, the children enjoy the day very much. In today's busy lives there is too much emphasis on convenience foods. I am delighted to have the opportunity to show children how to make, eat and enjoy healthy food."

The days were sponsored by the department of health and education, as part of an initiative to address concerns about children's health and fitness.
