MASKED raiders threatened two police officers with a crowbar before escaping from the scene of a robbery in Holcombe Brook last night.
The officers were chasing the raiders when the stolen getaway car stopped and two men jumped out and threatened the police.
The pursuit then continued but the Alpha Romeo car was eventually lost in the Whitefield area.
The robbery happened at 10pm when four masked men burst into Holcombe Brook Newsagents in Bolton Road West.
Staff were threatened by the men who were brandishing a sledgehammer, crowbars and a knife, before they grabbed a quantity of cigarettes and fled. A passing police car pursued the robbers who got into the Alpha car which was stolen earlier yesterday from the Unsworth area. No-one was injured during the robbery.
