THE Burnley sister of former paratrooper Christopher Alder, who died in police custody, was joined by 70 people during a protest outside the High Court in London yesterday.

Janet, of Manchester Road, stood outside the court with banners and posters to protest against a bid to overturn an inquest jury's verdict that her brother was unlawfully killed.

Five police officers are challenging the verdict on the death of 37-year-old father-of-two Christopher who died at Queen's Gardens Police Station in Hull three years last Sunday.

Janet has led a long campaign for justice for her brother after he was found dead on the floor of the custody suite with his hands cuffed behind his back and his trousers around his knees.

As the the case was due to enter its second day today, Janet was feeling confident. She said: "We are going into the second day and it is currently dealing with the causation of the incident. I am quite positive with what has been said in court so far and it did give me confidence to have so many people come along to support me in the protest.

"After what we went through last year I was more prepared for this one.

"I have my ups and downs because it's been going on for three years now but I just keep my fingers crossed and chin up and have to keep going."
