Lishman Cup (final) Lytham Ladies 1 Springfield Ladies 4

AS was to be expected from the two teams at the top of the premier division it proved to be a ding dong affair.

Springfield scored after 20 minutes only for Lytham to reply immediately. Ruth Blackburn, who was outstanding in midfield, scored from a good penalty corner routine. Springfields then went ahead shortly before half-time. The second half was much like the first, but Springfields always had the edge being stronger and quicker in the tackle. Gill Harrison, on Lytham's left wing, had some good runs while Lorna and Amy Leach stood out in defence.

Springfields scored their third half way through the half and finally put the result being doubt with a fourth goal just before the final whistle.

Disappointing for Lytham, although they fought hard in a splendid spectacle of hockey.
