HUNDREDS of tourists and locals are expected to visit Lancaster's Town Hall this summer as the Grand Edwardian building once again hosts a series of guided tours.

The tours, which are now in their third year, offer visitors an opportunity to inspect parts of the building which are normally out of bounds or rarely available to view. The last two seasons have proved exceptionally popular with foreign tourists as well as UK tourists, locals and groups of school children.

Featuring the room where infamous double murderer Buck Ruxton appeared as well as the old police cells, the tour is a must-do for all Lancastrians and everyone interested in architecture, fine furniture and local history.

All those embarking on the tour will be given a comprehensive and illuminating talk on the building, full of anecdotes, from its conception to its current day uses.

The hour-long tours, starting at 2.30pm, will run once a week on a Wednesday from 18 April through until the end of September. Numbers are limited to a maximum of 15 persons per tour and due to limited numbers, potential visitors without a ticket are advised not to turn up without checking ticket availability - telephone Lancaster Town Hall reception on 582000.
