BURY first team coach Billy Ayre has spoken of his desire to remain at Gigg Lane next season.

Ayre was drafted in by chairman Terry Robinson to help manager Andy Preece but his contract runs out at the end of the season.

Ayre has publicly spoken about his desire to return to management but says he will be happy to stay at Gigg Lane.

However, with money still tight at the club, there has been no decision yet made about Eyres future.

"Nothing's been decided because we've not reached the end of the season yet. When we do then we'll sit down and have a chat," Ayre said.

"I was delighted to get back into soccer and I'm loving minute at Bury.

"I can see there is so much potential at the club and hopefully if the chairman gets the financial backing he deserves then the younger players can only get better and the future looks very rosy.

"I think next season will be a very good one."

With the contracts of many experienced players expiring this summer, next year will be a chance for the younger players to establish themselves in the first team.

Promotion

The progress of the youngsters has shown in the form of the Shakers reserve team, who have already gained promotion to the Avon Insurance First Division.

"A lot of them have seen what the likes of Chris Armstrong and Nicky Hill have done and think we can do that too," said Ayre.

"Those two players are now first team regulars and holding down their places on merit. The other younger players will be looking to do the same.

"Next year it's going to be very different and with the contractual situation many of them will get their chance."

The Shakers have been in terrific form for the last two months and have come close to making the play offs.

Ayre said that transformation in form was now reflected in the outlook of the squad.

"We are coming home from away games now disappointed with a draw. We think we should be winning those games. That's how much we've improved," he said.
