TWO friends at Alder Grange High School, Rawtenstall, have been busy collecting money for the Indian earthquake appeal.

James Molloy and Shane Holt, both from class 7A, have raised £70, with still more to be collected.

They said they did this because if everyone did something, then all the people hit by the earthquake would have enough food and water until repairs are made.

They have raised the money by going around the school for a number of weeks at dinner time and break with a bucket and collecting everyone's spare change.

James and Shane said they hoped the money would help as many people as possible. James is planning to raise more money by doing a 4.5 km sponsored run in Blackburn next month.

Teacher Jack Beach said the school would like to thank James and Shane for putting in all the effort and giving up their time to help other people.

He also thanked the people who gave their change.
