PUPILS at a Blackburn school started their Easter holidays a day early after a leaking classroom forced the school to close.
More than 700 pupils and staff from Queen's Park High School, Shadsworth Road, were sent home after water seeped into three classrooms.
The school was due to break up for Easter today.
Headteacher Vicki Devonport said they had had a problem with some of their teaching blocks because of heavy rain which had begun to leak into the classrooms.
She added: "When the water started to seep in we had concerns about the electrics and safety of pupils and staff so we took the decision to close a day early.
"We will be resuming for normal service from the start of next term on Monday, April 23."
Mrs Devonport said no damage had been caused to any equipment in the classrooms affected by the leaks and praised pupils for behaving in a responsible way.
