FORMER Bury inside forward and Scottish international George Mutch died this week of pneumonia in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, he was 88.
Mutch made his name in the successful Preston North End side of the 1930s, scoring the dramatic extra time winning goal in the 1938 FA Cup final against Huddersfield Town.
After the war he signed for the Shakers from the Deepdale club and played 21 games during the 1946/47 campaign scoring 8 goals before he moved on to the Lancashire coast with Southport.
He was capped once for Scotland, playing against England in 1938.
