TOO BLUE QUIZ: A repeat of a BBC Radio Manchester pub quiz, featuring three quiz wizards from the Bird in Hand boozer at Blackford Bridge, was banned after bosses at the radio station felt the contestants and audience sounded as if they had quaffed a little too much ale.

One joke by a Bird in Hand team member was "a little near the bone", Radio Manchester explained. The Bury team featured Les Kershaw, Norman Ellison and Peter Jackson.

YOUNG HACK: Aspiring journalist Graham Hobson wrote to the editor of the BT to apply for a job and he was aged 13. As the youngest applicant, Graham was invited to spend a day at the office to see how newspapers were produced.

NO CHANGE: Bury handed out the points on a plate when they conceded two goals in the space of 90 seconds during their away game at Gillingham.
