A TOP honour has been awarded to former Radcliffe man John Gardner for his services to the Ministry of Defence.
Mr Gardner (58), was presented with the MBE by the Queen in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
His delighted mother, Mrs Alma Gardner (78), of Bealey Avenue, said: "I'm very proud of him. I attended the ceremony and Buckingham Palace was lovely."
Mr Gardner, who lived in Bury Street as a child and attended Radcliffe Parish School and later Stand Grammar School, now lives in Bramley, near Reading, with his wife, Valerie.
