FRENCH star Marc Keller has revealed he will quit Ewood at the end of the season after accepting an offer to become the new sporting director at Strasbourg.

The former West Ham playmaker finally agreed to a move back to France yesterday after spending most of the last week locked in talks with Strasbourg officials.

Keller plans to take up his new post at the end of the season when his current contract at Ewood expires.

But before that, he plans to stay and help Rovers achieve their dream of a Premiership return.

"I can now confirm that I'll definitely be going back to my old club, Strasbourg, in the capacity of sporting director," said Keller.

"Coming from Alsace, and having begun my playing career at Strasbourg, I'm naturally very attached to the club and the city.

"I'm also very excited by the challenge offered by my new role.

"Everything has been agreed between both parties and I'll make things official at the weekend by signing a contract which will run from 1 July.

"Strasbourg are struggling at the bottom of the French First Division, but they are in the semi-finals of the Cup after beating Lyon last weekend.

"I have enjoyed my time in England, both at West Ham and now at Blackburn.

"And I really hope I can end this season by celebrating promotion to the Premiership with Blackburn."

Keller joined Rovers on a free from West Ham back in January as manager Graeme Souness looked for experienced midfield cover following the departures of Lee Carsley and Billy McKinlay.

But the subsequent arrival of Eyal Berkovic from Celtic has seen his first team opportunities limited to just five appearances as a substitute.
