PLANS to convert a three-storey mid-row cottage in Newchurch Village into a bed and breakfast and tea-room look likely to be refused by councillors tonight.
The application suggests letting two of the cottage's three bedrooms to bed and breakfast customers and using the ground floor rear lounge as a tea-room.
Four letters of objection have been received from nearby residents who believe the proposal would worsen existing parking congestion on the narrow road through the village, create a disturbance and loss of privacy as well as a noise nuisance.
The Parish Council acknowledged a tea-room would benefit the village but agreed there would be a lack of parking.
Planning officers have recommended the refusal of the plans on the grounds that the cottage has no off-street parking and the tea-room would be likely to increase activity on the small shared forecourt in front of the cottage.
