PUBLIC transport champion the late Joe Clarke has been honoured again.
The former councillor from Atherton, who represented Atherton UDC and Wigan MBC and chaired Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority, has had a national award named in his honour.
The Joe Clarke Passenger Transport Authority Award 2001 created by the national Centre for Transport Policy, will be presented for the first time at September's nationwide awards ceremony.
Mr Clarke, who died in December, aged 80, was a former Mayor of Wigan and National Union of Mineworkers' officer who was greatly involved with Manchester's Metrolink transport system.
