AT the National Centre for English Cultural Tradition, University of Sheffield, we are working on a project assessing traditional types of English over the last 50 years.
We are looking at proverbial usage; traditional sayings; rhymes and riddles; blason populaire -- that is sayings, rhymes and nicknames about places, communities and groups; the language of children's traditional play and games.
We urgently require volunteers of all ages who would be willing to complete these questionnaires. If you are interested in helping, e-mail j.green@sheffield.ac.uk or write to NATCECT, The University of Sheffield, Sheffield, S10 2TN.
