REBEL councillor Andrew Holder is planning a potty protest at next week's Burnley council meeting.

Coun Holder paid a special visit to Burnley flea market to buy a chamber pot which he intends to place in the council chamber on Wednesday. He is angry at at the Lab-Lib Dem pact which means that Labour will retain the reins of power when a new executive takes over the running of the council next month.

For the first time in 30 years the Liberals will have a share of power with three seats while Labour take six.

Members of the council is split with Labour having 24 seats and other parties having 24 members.

Coun Holder sits as a member of the Lancashire Alliance Group. He is a former independent councillor and former disablement officer with the local Labour party.

He said: "It is not 12 months ago that Labour and the Lib-Dems were at each other's throats. Now they are doing something in the same pot! I paid £4 for a shiny white chamber pot -- money well spent.

"I'll take it to the council chamber so they can share it there."
