EIGHT Asian youths who have spent two years working on a peace garden for Brierfield will finally see the fruits of their labour on Thursday.
The garden, which it is hoped will promote peace and harmony in the town, will be unveiled by the Mayor of Pendle, Coun Ian Gilhespy at 2pm.
The project has been led by the Youth and Community Service in partnership with Groundwork East Lancashire and Mid Pennine Arts and the group of boys visited a number of gardens in London to get inspiration for their own creation.
Briefield's peace garden has the sculpture of a dove and a larger circular mosaic as its centrepiece with other features including a mural, which depicts a united community, a planting area, bench, railings and archway, as well as the time capsule.
Naheed Ashraf, Groundwork locality planning officer, said: "The garden was developed in response to social tensions in Brierfield and emphasises the importance of peace, harmony and a united community."
