ACCRINGTON'S job centre is one of the best in the country -- and that's official!
It was one of only five in the country to receive a prestigious National Performance Award this week in recognition of the high number of people it has helped into employment.
Since April last year it has helped over 2,400 unemployed people get back to work, 260 of whom have found jobs through the Government's New Deal programme -- including 77 who are lone parents.
Manager Mrs Doreen Eastwood said: "We have a good team here who work very hard to provide the best possible service to local jobseekers and employers.
"I also look upon it as an award for Accrington, too. Especially for the people who have experienced long term unemployment, but who now have a job."
