YOUNGSTERS at St Mary's RC Primary School, in Langho, got a real taste of history when they were transported back to the 8th Century to see how the Vikings lived.
The class of six and seven-year-olds were visited by Vikingasaga, a re-enactment group from Southport, who showed them what life was like before cars, television and school dinners.
They learned how the 'Scandinavian pirates' lived once they reached the country in their boats, the things they dressed in and the money they used to buy food and materials.
"The children had a really wonderful day and learned a lot about the history of the Vikings and what they looked like.
"They also learned that although the Vikings came here to attack the country, many of them were farmers," said class teacher Susan Noblet.
